THE TEAM:
Trauma Informed Care? What is it?
A trauma-informed approach is, at its heart, a relationship-based approach: it creates an opportunity for the therapist or the trainer to work with you to understand and identify your triggers, develop coping skills, and empower you to grow from the experience/event.
What is different to a non-informed approach to trauma?
We understand and respect boundaries. We are trained to listen and respond in a way that makes you feel heard. How we communicate, and our understanding of how your mind is interpreting the environment
Do we diagnose?
No, we are not here to diagnose what you have or where these symptoms may have come from. Absolutely we will soften the event/experience (s) using well researched techniques that will begin to soften your inner worlds reactions. We won't tell you how many sessions you need, or how often. We will be like the co-pilot to help guide you to grow from the trauma.
What is the process?
The types of activities we have chosen (mindfulness, yoga, weight lifting, massage etc) have been well researched in recent years to help trauma sufferers to begin to trust their body and mind again. They work wonderfully well alongside all talking therapies. Whether through our human givens approach or a local counsellor, psychologist, psychotherapist or psychiatrist.
Can I access the services on medication?
Absolutely. We are not here to diagnose, or recommend. We completely understand the necessity for medications when prescribed. we are not here to judge whether right now you need them or not. All of the trauma informed service we offer will work wonderfully well alongside medication.
Adam Smith’s famous book, The Wealth of Nations, published in Great Britain in 1776, distinguished between the outputs of what he termed “productive” and “unproductive” labor.
